BGES specializes in various types of reservoir and caprock injection testing, geotechnical lab testing, cased-hole logging and perforating, data collection and analysis, numerical modeling and simulation, technical consulting, and project management.

An Integrated Service Model

BGES’ geo-containment evaluation workflow begins with diligent core capturing and manage¬ment at the wellsite by experienced technical professionals. The core is subsequently trans¬ported to the geotechnical lab in a special-pur¬pose trailer. BGES then performs a suite of pat¬ented caprock core testing on the samples. Test programs include ambient and high-temp triaxial analyses as well as multi-stress and multi-tem¬perature permeability tests. To determine the caprock’s in-situ stress state, BGES performs engineered injection tests, like mini-fracs or di¬-agnostic fracture injection tests (DFITs). At the same time, cased-hole logs are done to analyze various formation pa¬rameters and assess the mechanical integrity of the well casing and cement bond.

BGES performs water mobility tests for a reliable description of critical formation characteristics, heterogeneities, layering, subsurface fluid mobility, and connectivity. Reservoir and geo-mechanical simulations are conducted simultaneously to predict the stress changes in the caprock during thermal recovery operations. These models are vital to ensuring that the injected steam stays within the producing formation for effective and safe production.

The integrated model utilizes the results of one type of test as an input parameter for another one. This is crucial to eliminate errors stemming from theoretical approximations, assumptions, or correlations.
