Lily Chen, CEOWith over 600 systems installed in 28 countries and a diverse customer base, DKI is a trusted partner for cloud-based terminal support systems that streamline operations and significantly reduce long-term costs.
Once dedicated exclusively to handling fuel, chemicals or LPGs, terminals have become increasingly versatile. Operations in the energy sector have transitioned to shared assets, optimizing costs while introducing greater operational complexity. As multi-host capabilities expand, clients now demand tailored solutions for stock management and transaction processes.
Omega 5000 addresses these challenges by streamlining every step, including sales orders, scheduling, loading fuel, invoicing and stock management, ensuring optimal asset utilization.
“We act as an operational partner to our customers, seamlessly integrating into their operations rather than just providing systems,” says Lily Chen, CEO.
Scalable and Flexible Solutions for Terminals Operations
DKI emphasizes close collaboration with clients from the outset, assessing their specific needs and goals while identifying gaps that must be addressed to achieve integration with their systems. To effectively meet operational requirements, the organization provides configurable standardized solutions to accommodate diverse terminal needs, regardless of size or location.
In the case of large, complex projects—particularly those involving terminals with legacy systems—DKI’s approach begins with AI based modelling and a thorough engineering design to evaluate the existing infrastructure. This process helps determine which components can be retained and which require optimization or replacement, followed by operational process mapping to align the new system with the terminal’s workflow. The team establishes clear KPIs to measure success and foster continuous improvement. Accurate AI based modeling phase predicts specific benefits and cost savings, such as enhanced gate-to-gate efficiency and improved security.
DKI proactively engages with customers throughout the implementation process to minimize surprises during rollout, ensuring that IT teams know their roles, engineering teams understand necessary infrastructure changes and operations personnel are equipped to efficiently manage daily tasks.
End-to-end support is the hallmark of DKI, encompassing software, hardware, networks, integrated systems and operation processes which sets it apart in terminal automation. Unlike many software companies that provide only application support, DKI's ability to manage the entire ecosystem ensures seamless operations. This proactive approach minimizes downtime and disruptions, enabling clients to maintain optimal efficiency and focus on their core business, even when unexpected issues arise.
Advanced Stock Reconciliation
Effective stock management is crucial for terminal operations, particularly in shared asset environments. Operators must accurately reconcile inventory for each client using the shared terminal, where stock is commingled and includes various categories, such as bonded stock requiring tax payments. DKI addresses this need by providing a distinct system that automates stock counting, removes manual processes, and reduces human error. The system’s digital journal accurately records all stock movements from their entry into storage, ensuring traceable data without manual input.
The efficacy of DKI's scalable terminal automation solutions is exemplified in its collaboration with one of the largest Pan African fuel distributors, operating terminals across 24 countries. This customer faced challenges due to limited expertise and a mix of automated and manual systems, resulting in security and safety risks as well as product loss. DKI worked closely with the senior leadership to develop a comprehensive improvement roadmap. This resulted in the integration of 15 terminals across 9 countries into a cloud-based unified Omega 5000 system with real-time group reporting, enabling management by a central planning team. Standardized operations reduced supply chain costs and improved stock accounting, enabling our client to manage stock levels remotely while minimizing losses and inefficiencies.
DKI also assisted a major terminal operator in New Zealand in enhancing stock reconciliation processes to meet government mandates. DKI’s Advanced Stock Reconciliation application allows the operating companies to model time stock movements in real-time thus optimizing existing storage assets to meet their obligations without major capital investment.
Cutting-Edge Strategies for a Greener Tomorrow
The success of DKI stems from its versatile team, whose expertise encompasses AI-driven data analytics, software development, networking, IT system administration, Disaster recover strategies, systems integration, PLCs, modular SCADA controls, and mechanical and electrical engineering. This comprehensive skill set allows DKI to manage every aspect of terminal infrastructure, excluding civil works like building and piping, up to business operation processes and data integration to ERP.
We act as an operational partner to our customers, seamlessly integrating into their operations rather than just providing systems.
A dedicated in-house software development team handles all core software design and development, with several patents filed for innovative technologies. The engineering team further enhances terminal operations by developing essential equipment, including Bay load controllers—FlexLinc, loading arms, strainers, control systems, IoT solutions and compartment identification technologies. The company also maintains a customer care center team providing 24/7, year-round global support.
Driven to provide its customers with fit-for purpose platforms for digital transformation, DKI employs a robust 2D strategy of Digitalization and Decarbonization that addresses both current and future challenges. As part of this strategy, DKI integrates advanced digital tools such as Digital Twin for enhanced business planning, TIDE SaaS for comprehensive reporting, and TIDE DR to ensure IT system redundancy. These digital solutions streamline operational efficiency and empower terminals to meet ESG goals and advance toward net-zero emissions in fuel storage and distribution. It has saved 7.621 MTCO2e by deploying cloud-based Omega 5000 cTAS over the past 2 years.
Building on its culture of innovation, DKI is more than a provider of automation solutions; it is a trusted partner committed to future-proofing terminal operations and paving the way for a more efficient and environmentally responsible industry.
