ABS ESS capitalizes on American Battery Solutions' established mobility battery systems capabilities.
FREMONT, CA: "Leveraging our track record for driving battery energy innovation, and developing and testing new technologies and chemistries with our advanced engineering team, ABS again demonstrates our dedication to support the energy transition," says Subhash Dhar, Chairman, and CEO of American Battery Solutions. American Battery Solutions, one of the nation's leading manufacturers of advanced commercial and industrial battery systems, has come up with its new Energy Storage System division, ABS ESS.
“There is a critical need for both hardware and software intended for stationary energy storage needs, especially following the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, which intends to fund so much utility-scale storage. We are confident that ABS ESS and its leadership team can bring our products to market and meet the growing demand for energy storage systems,” adds Dhar.

ABS ESS introduces TeraStor, its new lithium-ion battery energy storage platform designed for large-scale energy storage projects. In addition, ABS ESS is introducing StorView, its Energy Management Suite software and control hardware designed to optimize TeraStor performance, market participation, and financial performance.
ABS TeraStor was designed and developed by industry leaders who have deployed over 1.5 GWh of storage globally: Bud Collins, VP and GM, Michael Hoff, CTO, Greg Tremelling, VP of Product Development; and Rick Cwiakala, VP of Operations & Service. This group's collaboration significantly reduces the complexity of large-scale battery storage.
The TeraStor battery energy storage platform provides energy storage customers with a simple-to-purchase, -install, and -operate safe, efficient, and dependable energy storage system. This storage platform is designed to optimize lithium-ion cell life and performance while minimizing stranded cell capacity to provide greater output and system availability over the system's life.
TeraStor provides over 7,2-megawatt hours (MWh) of energy storage and 3.5 MW of integrated inverter capacity. With its self-powered design, which requires no auxiliary AC infrastructure, a fully integrated liquid cooling system—which eliminates all on-site HVAC installation—and a sixty percent increase in energy density, this battery energy storage platform enables customers to realize substantial cost and time savings in comparison to other energy storage systems. In addition, by utilizing TeraStorTM, ABS ESS can deploy an ultra-high energy density of 600 MWh per acre.
Each TeraStor is factory-packaged and tested, obviating the need for effective on-site component integration. It can be installed and commissioned in a record-setting six hours, compared to weeks or months for a conventional system. TeraStor systems are the most energy-dense per square foot, accommodating the most space-restricted locations while adhering to the most stringent international safety standards. Modular energy storage and power conversion components reduce downtime for maintenance and upgrades.
In addition, ABS ESS in-person interactive training ensures a comprehensive and adequate response to every occurrence on-site.
StorView advanced software and controls hardware monitor all conditions of TeraStor using sophisticated algorithms to determine its precise status and condition. The StorView software is a user-friendly interface that enables straightforward configurations, controls, and operations. A straightforward, industry-standard, single-point interface coupled with well-known third-party energy management systems. Continuously comparing warranty conditions to original and current expectations enables proactive planning for changing application requirements.
