Saft's century of experience provides consistent performance throughout a long cycle life in a wide range of temperatures.

FREMONT, CA: Saft has introduced ARROK, a new Lithium-Ion (Li-ion) battery explicitly designed for industrial off-road vehicles. From design and development to manufacturing, customization, and support, Saft specializes in advanced technology battery solutions for the industry.

ARROK is designed to provide high energy content as well as rapid charging in under an hour. It increases heavy-duty vehicle availability for all off-road markets, including construction, mining, agriculture, airport ground support, material handling, and seaports.

Compared to the automobile industry, vehicles for these sectors are produced in small quantities but with a wide range of uses and specifications. As a result, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) require a battery that can be easily modified to various vehicle types. The use of a uniquely adaptable strategy cuts down on the time and cost of designing new vehicles and the need for type testing and certification.

"Saft's ARROK battery systems bring a new level of modularity. By combining top-notch voltage and energy capabilities, with a compact size of 216 Wh/L and one-hour charge, ARROK opens up new opportunities for OEMs to easily electrify their existing diesel vehicles or to design new electric models," said Franck Cecchi, Executive Vice President of Saft's Mobility Division.

The lithium nickel-manganese-cobalt oxide (NMC) electrochemistry used in the ARROK batteries provides the maximum energy density for longer autonomy. Saft's century of experience provides consistent performance throughout a long cycle life in a wide range of temperatures.

ARROK batteries can be paired to build battery systems with voltages ranging from 48 to 900 Volts (V) and energy storage capacities ranging from 4.2 to 750 Kilowatt-Hours (kWh), enough to operate small, medium, or large industrial vehicles for a full day with a one-hour recharging stop. The Saft facility in Nersac, France, designs and manufactures ARROK battery systems.
